3 Reasons For Traveling
via MRT in Singapore

Want to know the best way to travel in Singapore? Well, its not by bus, car or taxi. It’s by that good old Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system.

Its in fact the most popular form of transport in the country, and you’ll do well to adopt this mode of transportation if you’re visiting Singapore.

The MRT system is not difficult to use - in fact it is one of the most advanced systems around. Let me explain ...

Why take the MRT? Well, I highlight three prime reasons here.

1. It's Cheap!

The MRT is cheap. Very cheap. If you compare the taxi fare to get from say the west end of Singapore to the east end, it’ll cost you about 25 Singapore Dollars in fares. If you took the MRT, it would cost less than 10 Singapore Dollars. The cheaper fares are a really big draw – and remember, you won’t compromise on comfort either (except during peak hours when the trains are jam packed).

2. Want Convenience?

The MRT stations are all over the island. There is a North-South, East-West and NorthEast Line that dots the entire Singapore map. You can really get anywhere you want on the island via the MRT. Each MRT station also has very clear guides and maps to where you can go upon exiting the station.

3. Get There Faster

The MRT system is fast. Oh yes, it is very, very fast. Again, compare the taxi ride from the west end to the east end of the island. A typical journey (with no traffic jams) might take you over an hour. By MRT, the time for travel is certainly more consistent and should not take more than forty-five minutes.

Conclusion

I hope the above has enlightened you to the pros of traveling by MRT in Singapore. Of course, there are certain places on the island that are best accessed via a car or taxi, but for 90% of your traveling needs, I’d say that the MRT is the best way to go. Happy travels!
