The HarbourFront shopping complex in Singapore has recently opened and is one of the busiest malls you can find in the city.

With its large expanse of shops, movie galleries, playgrounds, restaurants and indoor activities, you'll be hard pressed to find a better place to idle a Saturday or Sunday afternoon away.

Overview

Previously also known as the World Trade Centre, the Singapore HarbourFront was renamed to its present name in 2003 to give it up market appeal. The new building is now a star attraction on the island.

If you step in, you will enter a shoppers' paradise. You can find everything here - up market department stores that offer exclusive brands, along with small bazaars that offer products at throw-away prices. The place has as many as thirteen floors including three complete floors of shopping, with the top two floors meant for offices.
 

Things To Do

There are so many things you can do in the HarbourFront. Fancy watching a movie with friends and family? Just head to the Golden Village Megaplex cinema for the best in cinematic entertainment.

Need some new clothes or shoes? Head over to the the clothing stores like Esprit, GAP and Aldo. Want to eat some great food? Popular food and beverage outlets and retailers like BreadTalk, Subway, Coffee Club, Spizza and Sakae Sushi are all present here. Want some electronics? There are tons of electrical and electronic lifestyle shops in the mall.

If you visit during the 'Great Singapore Sale', you will be pleasantly surprised with many shops giving as much as 70% reductions on items from fashion, food, electronics to jewelry.
 

Conclusion

If you're planning on visiting Singapore, try to make some time to visit the HarbourFront. It is usually not heavily touted in tourist literature (e.g. like Orchard Road) - but is is a new mall with lots to discover. And did you know there's also a new monorail link to Sentosa called the The Sentosa Express? This is great because you can pop by Sentosa island (another great tourist attraction) straight from within HardbourFront.
