1. Overview Tourism in Singapore is a major industry and
attracts millions of tourists each year. The Singapore River is a major tourist
attraction and forms an integral part in Singapore's densely packed Central
Business District. It covers many of Singapore's top historical and cultural
attractions. 2.
How To Get To The Riverside
There are several monuments and museums that can be visited along the Singapore
river. To have fun at the Singapore riverside there are many avenues like
shopping malls, theatres, concert hall, eating spots, bars and night clubs. And
to do all this it would require more than two days to cover the places in and
around the Singapore Riverside.
3. Merlion Park The monument was developed by the Singapore promotion board in the year 1964. The monument structure looks like that of a half-cat, half-fish. Cavenagh Bridge, Singapore’s oldest and the only suspension bridge that exist in Singapore is now a pedestrian walkway across the mouth of the Singapore river.
Also a must visit site in the Raffles Statue of Stamford
Raffles, the founder of Singapore. Built on the supposedly exact spot where he
first landed. The spot is second only to the Merlion as the most popular tourist
spot in Singapore. The skyscrapers and shop houses of Boat Quay in the background
makes it a wonderful spot to take pictures. 4. Places to
Visit
There is
greater emphasis on the cultures near and in Singapore. Singapore Art Museum
houses modern art from in and around Singapore. The museum also houses
exhibitions from time to time which can be quite fascinating. Last but certainly
not the least is the National Singapore Museum that has recently added the new
Singapore History Gallery, four Living galleries with a brand new extension.
5. Adventure
If you are a fitness freak and like to work out even while on vacation. Then Planet Fitness at 30 Raffles Place and Fitness First at 1 Raffles Place are the places to check out. You can enjoy swimming at the roof top, jacuzzis and tennis.
Esplanade Theatres which is considered as the equivalent of Sydney's famous
Opera House. Here you can see Opera, dance, classical concerts and similar
entertainment is offered daily. Those who cannot afford a seat in the main hall,
there are usually free productions on the riverfront on weekends. Conclusion
