1. New Year Starting from the first day of January is the New Year celebrations that take
place all across the globe to welcome the start of the new calendar year. Are
you the ones who like to party all night and way into the wee hours of the
morning? Celebrate the New Year at the enormous Fountain of Wealth at Suntec
City, where live music and street dancing will keep you boogie-ing all night
long. At some common place in Singapore, some great fire works displays are held
on the occasion. 2. Lunar New Year There’s the Chinese New Year that occurs in the month of January or February.
This is the high point of the Chinese calendar and is celebrated with much pomp
and Cheers. It is also known as the Lunar New Year and this festival lasts for
15 days. One can see the famous Dragon dance and parades all along the streets.
The atmosphere in Singapore’s Chinatown is a visual treat, the sky is lit up
with fire works and at nights the celebrations are more festive. 3. Vesak Day For Buddhist, Vesak Day marks the birthday of the Lord Gautama Buddha. In
Singapore, the many followers of Buddha pay a visit to the various Buddhist
Shrines dotting the island for a day of worship and prayer. 4. Deepavali Deepavali is the most important day in the entire year for a Hindu. It marks the
coming to home of Lord Ram; it also marks the victory of good over evil. The
festivities carry on through the whole month of October. Traditional deeps are
lit along the streets and shops of the ethnic centre of Little India. It is a
period that’s marks the Hindu New year and also considered as auspicious to
start new projects and make important decisions. 5. Christmas On 25th of December Christmas is celebrated. It is a time for an out of the
ordinary celebrations. Singapore has a tropical climate, meaning it’s hot and
humid even in December, so there are no chances of any snow occurring. But malls
have special snow-making machines for the delight of children. All traditional
celebrations of Christmas can be found here, the carols, late-night mass,
nativity scenes, winking fir trees and gaily-wrapped presents. Conclusion Do not get confused because we are talking about national holidays and festivals and not about fashion or shopping festivals that also take place in Singapore. Singapore is a rich mix of culture and creeds, so all round the year different nationalities celebrate their various occasions in the true colors of the event.
