New HDB Complexes
in Singapore

If you’re been looking for a place to stay or rent in Singapore, a good place to look is the Housing Development Board (HDB) new town.

Traditionally, HDB complexes are subsidized by the Singapore Government, providing accommodation for 80% of the population. Foreigners tend to rent rooms from apartment owners sometimes.

This article will show you the newest HDB complexes in Singapore and their characteristics.

1. Punggol New Town

Situated in the north side of Singapore island, the Punggol New Town is a very popular HDB apartment district with newly married couples. The place is chokful of modern amenities and provides very well in terms of things like banks, shopping complexes and playgrounds, etc. The only problem with it is the fact that it is very far away from the city. So those folks working in the city centre will find it a bit of a hassle to go to work. Otherwise, it is a tremendously nice HDB town to live in.

2. Bukit Panjang New Town

Bukit Panjang New Town is a bit older – it isn’t exactly ‘new’. But its probably in the age range of 10 years – which is pretty young for a HDB new town. One of the things you’ll like about Bukit Panjang is its proximity to town, as well as its community. In the town area, you will find a lot of lovely amenities like shopping complexes, coffee shops and other trappings of modern life that we cannot live without.

3. Sengkeng New Town

The other area which I’d like to mention is Sengkang New Town. Sengkang, like Punggol, is a very ‘new’ HDB town and provides well for modern couples who are newly married. What you will like about it is the up-to-date facilities and well, relatively young population. Definitely one of the best living areas in Singapore (but then again, its a bit far from the city centre.

Conclusion

Well, I hope this article has shown you a thing or two about HDB new towns in Singapore. Certainly, compared to the modern condominiums springing up all over town, some folks may not be keen to live in them. However, the quality of housing given the cheap price is hard to beat. So it is something you can consider if you want to get some cheap affordable housing in this little island.
