Browse Through Wares in This Singaporean Flea Market

Have you ever wanted to locate the best flea markets in Singapore? To do some small shopping, buy a nifty little bag or a small trinket perhaps?

Well, there are lots and lots of stalls in Singapore that sell such wares. You just need to know where to look.

This article will tell you all about the Bugis Junction. This area opens right into the night and is famous amongst locals for bargains.

How To Get There

How do you get there? Well, the best options are by MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) which is basically the subway, or by way of a cab. If you go by subway, just alight at the station called ‘Bugis’. I won’t recommend talking a bus or walking because the buses there can be quite crowded and the weather quite hot.

Speaking about the weather, Singapore weather can be very hot - especially for visitors from the Northern Hemisphere. So wear some loose and light clothing to shop – you’ll feel much better.

Find Some Amazing Bargains

Going back to the topic at hand – the Bugis Village flea market. Once you step into the market just off the main road, you’ll end hundreds of little stalls dotting the cramped space. What can you find here? Well, any and everything you can imagine.

For the ladies, there are stuff like handbags. purses. T-shirts, clothes, jewelry and other arts and crafts for sale. You can find some amazing bargains here. For the tourist who wants to bring back something as a souvenir from Singapore, this is the place to get it. Not the overpriced shops you find in more ‘touristy’ places but right here in this flea market.

If you’re looking for stuff like pirated DVDs – forget it. Singapore is very tough on piracy. Over the last few years, pirates of DVDs and computer software have all but gone – thanks to the diligent raiding carried out by the Singapore Police force.

Remember To Bargain

And one word of caution – do remember to bargain in the flea market. The first price quoted to you will never be the absolute lowest – especially if you look like a tourist. So please bargain – drive the price down.

Parco Bugis Junction

Incidentally, if you want to do some shopping at the mall, you can just hop over to Parco Bugis Junction. This place is stocked with a big department store, cinema, McDonalds, Starbucks – all the modern amenities that you need. So do check it out too.
