There are two specific tours that will be
of interest to most tourists. One of them is the Heartlands of Singapore Tour,
while the other is the Eastern Heartlands Tour. Both are described in detail
below. 2. Heartlands of Singapore Tour If you want to discover life in Singapore during the old days (i.e. when fishing villages thrived) the Heartlands of Singapore Tour is the right one for you. This tour begins on a great note at Suntec City, which is an impressive cluster of buildings right smack in the middle of the city. The next stop is to drive eastwards, all the way to the Malay Village. Within the Malay Village, expect to see the best of kampong life exhibited, particularly during period between the 1950s and 1960s. After that, we can proceed to the famous Changi Prison, view the Changi Chapel and Museum and take in the historical sights. Changi Village is our next stop, where we will zip by the Changi Yacht Club and also the Tampines New Town. Tampines New Town is a typical HDB town area, so you will be able to see the 'heartlands' or HDB townships in Singapore.
2. Eastern Heartlands Tour An alternative tour (which covers the Changi area as well) is the Eastern Heartlands Tour. You will begin the tour with a visit to the Changi Chapel and Museum, which houses the historical exhibits of World War II. After that, the tour will bring you onwards to Changi Beach Park. This is a very beautiful, tropical beach situated right at the north-eastern portion of the island, just next to the Changi Airport. The next leg of the tour brings you to the unique Changi Village, where you will find plenty of great bargains - stuff like T-shirts, electronics, carpets and other curios. Next, you will also be able to take a ride through a typical modern HDB housing estate. Marvel at the contrast between old and new Singapore as the tour goes pass the Tampines Town Centre.
