Are you looking to purchase some electronics in Funan The IT Mall?
This place is chokful of good electronics to buy like Apple iPods, MP3 players, digital cameras, video cameras or computer hardware and software.
If you’re looking to shop around, Funan offers one of the best selections in town, next to that other electronics haven in Singapore, Sim Lim Square.
1. Do Your Research
Now here’s a bit of advice for you. Before you trudge down to Funan and start bargaining and hunting for the latest LCD TV or camera, make sure you do a bit of research online or in magazines first. One of the problems I have when shopping for electronics is that I usually get very confused when presented by a vast array of models in the shop. So much so that I need to step out of the shop and ‘clarify’ my mind before deciding on the model I want. So the best thing to do is to usually do your research first, decide on 1 or 2 models, then go into the shops to select the model you want.
2. Check The Prices
If you’re ready to buy, make sure you do this one thing. Check the prices! Be careful of any hidden costs, like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which some shops may not display in the price tags. The GST in Singapore is standard and held at 3% of the purchase price. Make sure you ask for the nett price when checking with the shop owner. The other thing you can do (as any smart shopper would do) is to check prices at competing shops. In Funan the prices may not vary too much, but I’m well aware of places (like Sim Lim Square) where prices can vary as much as $20 to $30 between shops! So do your due diligence and check the prices.
3. Clarify What You’re Buying
The next important thing to do is to clarify what you’re getting from the shop. If you’re purchasing an LCD TV, make sure you check what kind of contents you’re getting in the box. Is it just the TV? What about extra goodies like a free DVD player? Are the required cables all inside? Make sure you check and double check. It is in fact a great idea to ask the shop owner to open up the box and let you inspect the contents of any electronics product you’re buying.
Conclusion
Well! I hope that this article has given you some good insight into what you can do when shopping for electronics in Funan The IT Mall. This place is great for buying electronics, but do make sure you are getting your money’s worth by asking the shops what you’re getting.
